Scholarship Banquet
Awards & Scholarship Banquet
The purpose of the annual Fulfilling Our Dreams Awards and Scholarship Banquet is to raise funds for SALEFs most needed programs as well as to honor local distinguished leaders, and to celebrate the future of our scholarship recipients.
Over the past fifteen years, SALEF has provided approximately 700 scholarships to underserved Latino students in California and assisted at-risk youth with mentoring services. This is our major fundraising event of the year and your support is critical in order to continue to improve the lives of Salvadorans and other Latinos in California.

Dear Friends and Supporters:
We are happy to inform that our 16th Anniversary, Awards and Scholarship Banquet was a huge success. We would like to express our gratitude to those who have supported us and to those who were able to attend.
This year, SALEF honorees included: General Manager of Hoy Newspaper, Roaldo Moran, with SALEFs Community Service/Salvadoran of the Year Award, Los Angeles Deputy Mayor and Director of Gang Reduction and Youth Development, Guillermo Cespedes, with SALEFs Public Service Award, Union Bank with SALEFs Corporate Service Award, Urban Housing Communities, with SALEFs Civic Service Award and posthumously honored President of CARECEN, D.C., Saul Solorzano with SALEFs Lifetime Achievement Award. This years special guests included Los Angeles Councilmembers Eric Garcetti, Richard Alarcon, Ed Reyes, and City Controller Wendy Gruel. Also, this year SALEF awarded 50 scholarships to highly deserving students from Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay area.
This year, we were very happy to have ABC 7s Marc Brown as the evenings emcee and Fabiola Santiago, a SALEF 2011 Scholarship recipient and AB 540 UCLA Grad Student whose parents were deported to Mexico, as the evenings Keynote Speaker. Ms. Santiagos speech and story made a beautiful evening more inspiring. A night dedicated to the AB 540 students who are now triumphant in their struggles and one step closer to living the American Dream.
Again we thank you for your ongoing support, your friendship, and your exceptional commitment to SALEF.
¡Mil Gracias!
Carlos Antonio H. Vaquerano
