VOTE PROJECT - Vote To Empower

SALEF has been a pioneer and one of the leading organizations conducting voter registration and Get Out The Vote campaigns for the Central American community in Los Angeles. Since its establishment in 1995, SALEF is committed to creating a healthy community where its members have the opportunities and access to resources to achieve their highest potential.  Thus, SALEF promotes the active involvement of Central Americans in the civic and democratic system. SALEF advocates for their political participation and representation in leadership positions such as city and state commissions and boards.

Engaging our community to register to vote and get out the vote on Election Day is a priority of SALEF’s VoTE Project, which targets newly naturalized Central American immigrants as well as their US-born children. Community members are provided with information geared to empower their minds and civic activism. Through non-partisan voter registration campaigns, educational and candidate forums, and community engagement, SALEF works to ensure to make the community’s VOICE heard.SALEF continues to be actively involved in every local and citywide election to ensure the Central American and Latino communities’ voice is heard. Some of our key projects over the years include:
